Have you ever felt like you were walking in darkness?
Maybe you felt alone or afraid. Maybe like no one was listening.
Like you didn’t know the way to go, or the path to take. Maybe hard circumstances put you in that place, or some obstacle that seemed impossible to overcome. Perhaps, like Jonah, you ran away from God.
In my life, I’ve been in this place more than I’d like to admit. I’ve faced tough decisions, dealt with fear that felt overwhelming, lost close friends, and made plenty of mistakes, Including trying to run away from God. Often, I felt like I didn’t know what to do in these times. I felt like I didn’t even know myself.
But, here’s the truth:
Psalm 139:7-10
Where shall I go from your Spirit?
Or where shall I flee from your presence? if I ascend
to heaven, you are there!
If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!
If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.
There is nowhere we can go, that God isn’t there with us.
God never leaves us. He is always with us and always has been.
We can’t run away from Him. His ways are higher than ours.
Friends, whatever it is. God has you in His hands.
Psalm 139:11-12
If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me,
and the light about me be night,” even the
darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day,
for darkness is as light with you.
God can see everything for what it really is.
He can see every situation that we face,
He can see us for who we really are.
Psalm 139:23-24
Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
So in whatever we are facing, the truth is this:
God is with us; therefore, we do not walk in darkness.
Even when we have tried to run away and hide..
Like David, we can ask God to search us, know us,
and lead us back to Jesus, the Light of Life.
John 8:12
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, *I am the light of the world
Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Thank you Lord!
