During the week of prayer and fasting the Lord was speaking to me about hope. I felt like He was reminding me of the hope He has given me. As I was seeking Him I had a picture of a seed in the ground. I felt like the Lord was showing me that the seed was hope.
Within a seed there is the hope that it will one day grow. But if you do not tend to that seed it may easily be forgotten and it may not grow to its full potential.
What happens if it is simply planted and ignored? What if it is never watered, protected from weeds, and the sun can’t touch it? It will only grow to a point and possibly die.
We all understand hoping for something and sometimes, if we don’t see our hopes fulfilled immediately then it is easy to lose heart. We have to continue to tend to the hope given to us.
In Ezekiel 34:15-16 the Lord says, “I myself will tend my sheep and have them lie down, declares the Sovereign Lord. I will search for the lost and bring back the strays. I will bind up the injured and strengthen the weak,”
When we tend to something we give it needed attention. The hope Jesus has given us needs our attention. What is the hope He has given us? That He will seek us when we are lost. That He with strengthen us when we are weak. That He will heal us when we are sick. That He will draw near to us when we are broken hearted. That He will never leave or forsake us.
Let’s not forget to tend to that hope. It is what we all need to hold onto and what we need to share with those around us.
Take courage and believe in the Hope the Lord has given us!
Ezekiel 34:25-31 “‘I will make a covenant of peace with them and rid the land of savage beasts so that they may live in the wilderness and sleep in the forests in safety. I will make them and the places surrounding my hill a blessing. I will send down showers in season; there will be showers of blessing. The trees will yield their fruit and the ground will yield its crops; the people will be secure in their land. They will know that I am the Lord, when I break the bars of their yoke and rescue them from the hands of those who enslaved them. They will no longer be plundered by the nations, nor will wild animals devour them. They will live in safety, and no one will make them afraid. I will provide for them a land renowned for its crops, and they will no longer be victims of famine in the land or bear the scorn of the nations. Then they will know that I, the Lord their God, am with them and that they, the Israelites, are my people, declares the Sovereign Lord. You are my sheep, the sheep of my pasture, and I am your God, declares the Sovereign Lord.’ ”
