As we move into a new season, summer to fall, it reminds me that God has seasons in bringing His kingdom to fullness on the earth. Just as natural, seasonal changes can be marked by observable changes, God’s seasons are seen in the changes we see in the world. As God’s people, sensitive to the Holy Spirit (Rev. 2:29) the Scriptures give us light to understand what God is currently about (2 Peter 1:19).
Isaiah 11:11-12 NKJV
“11 It shall come to pass in that day
That the Lord shall set His hand again the second time
To recover the remnant of His people who are left,
From Assyria and Egypt,
From Pathros and Cush,
From Elam and Shinar,
From Hamath and the islands of the sea.
12 He will set up a banner for the nations, And will assemble the outcasts of Israel, And gather together the dispersed of Judah From the four corners of the earth.”
Isaiah 11:11-12 gives us such a sign that can be seen by believers and unbelievers alike, the return of the Jewish people to their historic home-land and the restoration of the nation Israel. This is the fulfillment of God’s covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Gen.17:7-8; 26:3; 31:12).
Beginning around 1900 one can see God actively working to fulfill His promise to Abraham and His descendants. First with the increased Jewish immigration into Palestine; secondly with the reestablishment of the nation of Israel; thirdly with a growing number of Jewish men and women recognizing Jesus as the Messiah. This has not been seen since the 1st century.
As God’s people we are called to recognize His seasons and to cooperate with his plans. How? First by our prayers; secondly by expressing our support for the Jewish and Israel to our leaders and to others as opportunities arise.
Remember God will bless those who bless Israel and the Jewish people.
