A word.
A single distinct element of language that conveys meaning.
Written, then perceived by the eye.
Spoken, then sensed by the ear.
String them together to determine their occupation: conveying information, setting standards, delivering joyous news or devastating diagnoses, inciting rebellion, declaring love.
Words signal a beginning and draw to a close. They have a definition.
Words are important, bringing universality among people.
A word.
One single word can catalyze a shift: metaphorically, physically, atmospherically, historically.
A word.
The Word.
A Word unlike any other word.
A Word that does all these things but defies them too.
A Word that goes out and accomplishes His desires. A Word that prospers and never returns void.
A Word that transcends time and space and logic; A Word that created them.
A Word that renders dichotomies harmonious.
Justice and mercy.
Lion and lamb.
God and man.
A Word that was there in the beginning before words. A Word that was with Him and was Him.
A Word that doesn’t need to speak to be witnessed, but that is all and is in all.
A Word that speaks anyway.
A Word that heals and nourishes and forgives.
A Word that was made flesh and lived and died.
A Word whom resurrected Himself.
A Word that resurrected me.
A Word that is living and active.
A Word that saves. Today.
What kind of word can do this?
No, this is not like any other word at all. No other word could have been sufficient.
It had to be this Word.
The Word.
Jesus.

John 1:1-5
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
Isaiah 55:10-11
10As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, 11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
Thank you, Lord for the Word. We pray that you would reveal even more through your son, Jesus, and the Spirit that dwells in each of us.
