Luke 10:24 ESV “[24] For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.””
As believers today we are blessed far beyond what we can perceive. Mighty men and women of God longed to see what we see and hear what we hear today. Jesus is expressing to HIS disciples that they were now living and experiencing all that the scriptures (the Old Testament) were pointing to. In turn, as we read this Jesus is expressing the same to us. The Messiah, Jesus, has come and we can know HIM today. Men like King David, who loved the Lord with all his heart and who God revealed so much to, yet did not get to hear or see what we now do. Men like Isaiah, Micah, and Zechariah who declared Messianic prophecies given to them by God – longed to see the day when Jesus would come. I believe part of what they longed to see was the day that Jeremiah describes.

Jeremiah 31:31,33-34 ESV “[31] “Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, ….  [33] For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the LORD: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts.  And I will be their God, and they shall be my people.  [34] And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the LORD.  For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.””
Jesus has come and the world has this opportunity to know HIM and be forgiven from the least to the greatest. HE has given and written HIS Word on our hearts. HE has baptized with HIS Holy Spirit. Many mighty men and women of God only got to see this promise from afar (Hebrews 11:13) and they looked on it with awe and wonder.
Lord, give us grateful hearts for what you have done for us.  Stir our hearts to stand before you in awe and wonder that we live in the time when we can know Jesus as Lord, Savior, and Friend.
