MANY WATERS WEEKLY WORD
“…HIS voice was like the sound of many waters.” -Revelation 1:15
I remember going to a summer camp when I was in Middle School and the pastor who was sharing that week only shared from one passage of scripture. I remember being surprised and astonished that he could talk about one passage for an entire week with us and it not become dry or boring. My understanding before was that you would read a verse, you would learn what it meant and then you would move on. But God’s word, HIS voice is much deeper and much more rich. Like the sound of many waters. We could spend a lifetime trying to search the depths of HIS word, of HIS heart and barely scratch the surface.
Fast forward several years later and God used my good friend, Ken Jenkins, to help me see even more the depth of the word of God. Ken showed me that God’s word was truly living and active, that the Lord wanted to speak to me through it, and that I could hear HIM. He encouraged so many of us in this and that God wanted to use us to point people to Jesus and encourage them in the Lord.
That’s why you’re getting this email today. We are going to be seeking the Lord each week for an encouraging word to send out. I had been trying to think of a good name for this for a while, but nothing felt right. However, one day I was asking the Lord and remembered a conversation Ryan and I had. Ryan was remembering Ken sharing about how the voice of the Lord is like the sound of many waters and how when we share what God is putting on each of our hearts it’s like the sound of many waters. Like at a Bible study where someone reads one verse and invites others there to share what God is showing them. You’re not going to hear the exact same answer from everyone, but you’re going to hear the same heart. And it’s like the sound of many waters.
So we are going to start sending a weekly email on Wednesdays called Many Waters. It will be an encouraging word that either myself, one of the Elders or someone else in our body has sought the Lord for. Our questions will be simply, “Lord, what is on your heart?”
